Never Run Out of Inventory Again
Written by Bashar Katou on June 13, 2018
Whether you’re new to Amazon selling or you’ve been doing it for quite some time, there’s one problem we all face … inventory!

You’ve been there before. You set up a new product and only order so many units because you’re not sure how it’s going to sell. Before you know it, it’s flying off the shelves and you’re out of inventory.

While this is great for business, there’s one big problem. Once you run out of inventory, your listing drops in rank. This allows other sellers to climb ahead of you.

If you’re feeling panicked or defeated, don’t worry, I have a solution for you! I’d like to introduce you to one of my top Amazon hacks that will ensure you never run out of inventory again.

   The Amazon Inventory Hack
Step 1
Search for your product listing on Amazon.

Step 2
Grab the ASIN from your listing.

Step 3
Go to the “Add a Product” page and list a new product using the ASIN. Basically, you’re hijacking your own listing here.

Step 4
Amazon will suggest that you become FBA, but you do not want to do this. Select FBM (fulfillment by merchant) instead.

   Fulfilling the Order
Now that you’ve hacked your way back in, you might be noticing fewer sales. Although your sales may drop, at least you have sales coming in instead of waiting days for your new inventory!

The next step is to fulfill the orders. Once your first (and subsequent) order is received, go and dropship someone else’s listing. Search for a competitor who has the same or a similar listing to your product. Purchase their listing and have it shipped to your customer.

This is a new hack that you can start using immediately! Don’t let money fly out the window!
   Handling Customer Complaints
In some cases, you might get feedback about the packaging or product. Remember, this isn’t your exact product, but it’s a similar listing. In some cases, I’ve given out small monetary discounts ($2-$3) to customers who were dissatisfied. More often than not, your customers are going to be curious as to why the branding is different. To deal with these types of complaints, I usually say something like this:

“We are testing out new packaging and branding for this product. We’re looking at a few different options for how this product will be branded moving forward.”

You want to reassure the customer that you know what’s going on, but that they are getting the product they requested.

   What About the Seller?
The next question I often get asked about is from those of you who are selling 5-10 or more products per day. There’s a concern here about giving too many sales to one seller, but you know I have a hack for that also! Instead of purchasing only from one seller, find 2-3 sellers who have a similar listing. Just buy 1-2 products from each seller to fulfill your order, so their listing doesn’t start to rise above yours.
